Contextual Fit

The projects is to create a an extension to an already existing structure, which is the Smith House by Richard Meier in 1965. Your goal is to add in this extension based on a clients interest, without compromising the architectural integrity of the Smith House itself.

Preliminary Ideas

Jesse and Amanda are a happy couple who recently purchased the Smith house. They both enjoy following popular health and exercise trends, and they both work as graphic designers so they tend to bring their work home with them. They would like to add an extension to the Smith house by adding an office area along side their exercise room. They also plan to have a kid of their own soon, so they desire a kids room next to their room, and a big family area for family and friends to visit.
